Dr. Krout is an Academic Professional in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program where he teaches introductory and upper-level courses including "Principles of Neuroscience" (2010), "Neural Systems, Networks, and Behavior" (3002) and Neuroscience Research (2699, 4699, 4001). Dr. Krout was previously a part of the FIRST (Fellowship in Research and Scientific Teaching) program at Emory University where studied the role of the gut microbiome in mediating toxicity response to pesticide exposure and taught CURE laboratories at Morehouse College.
Dr. Krout's research interests are focused on the gut-brain axis, specifically how the gut microbiome may influence neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases. He also serves as the Director for Career and Professional Development in the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program, where he supports students in career planning, networking, and applying for internships, research positions, and jobs through one-on-one advising, as well as program-wide workshops and panels.
